Coby
a film by Christian Sonderegger
78 min | France | 2018

In the village of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, 21 year old Coby leads a normal life, surrounded by his family and partner. In a very intimate way, this documentary tells the story of the journey that led him to live a life according to his true gender identity, but also the commitment of his close surrounding. An incisive, tender and ironic portrait of a transgender and his family seeking for freedom.

The documentary film „Coby”, is a national premiere screening during the Bucharest Pride 2018, with the support of the French Institute.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Patrick Brăila, filmaker and transgender rights activist, and Sasha Ichim, founder of TRANSform and transgender rights activist.

Drag @ Mobius Gallery
Jun 2 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Urban tour | Gay in the Bucharest of Article 200 @ Hotel IBIS Gara de Nord | București | Municipiul București | România

Until 2001, being gay in Romania was illegal and you could spend five years in prison for it. Article 200 had become the Moral Militia’s terror and blackmailing instrument of choice. You either became a snitch, or were sent for reeducation. During the communist period, hunting gay people was a constant preoccupation of the Party, so gay life could only exist in hiding. Without today’s dating apps, how could you meet anyone? Dominic Brezianu knows some of these secrets, and has agreed to share them with us during a tour of the Center of Bucharest.

Mein wunderbares West-Berlin
a film by Jochen Hick
107 min | Germany | 2017

Mein wunderbares West-Berlin (My Wonderful West Berlin) describes gay life of West Berlin, in the dynamic period between the end of WWII and the fall of the Berlin Wall. The stories and experiences of political activists, party-goers, hedonists, club owners, musicians, fashion designers, a DJ, and a make-up artist paint a vivid picture of the gay scene in that period. The viewers will travel through time to a hitherto unknown West Berlin. The film is the second part of filmmaker Jochen Hick’s Berlin trilogy. The final part of the trilogy will focus on the period after the fall of the Wall, up until today.

The Embassies of Germany and France in Bucharest celebrate the beginning of Bucharest Pride 2018 with the projection of the film Mein wunderbares West-Berlin at the Cinema Elvire Popesco.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Andrei Luca, film critic, and Wieland Speck, part of tha cast, and also the creator of the Teddy Awards and the curator of the Panorama section at Berlinale.

The event will be followed by a reception in the beautiful garden of the French Institute.

Curator: Sandra Demetrescu
An event organized by ACCEPT Romania, with the support of MNAC Bucharest.

Exhibition opening: MNAC Bucharest | 06.06.2018 | 7:00 PM
Visiting period: 06.06 – 13.06.2018, during the museum visiting hours.

The N•A•K•E•D project gives a voice and a face to those men hated by 6 out of 10 Romanians. Tiberiu Căpudean photographed and gathered the stories of over 200 gay and bisexual men in various parts of the world. Each man who joined the project talks about how he experienced homophobia, xenophobia, racism, body shaming or ageism first hand.

Men of different ages, belonging to very different social classes and professions — from doctors and biochemists to store clerks, lawyers, tailors, and students — told their stories and granted permission to be photographed, even if the majority doesn’t fit the conventional norms of male beauty. The first selection of works is presented at MNAC Bucharest in the frame of Bucharest Pride 2018. Future exhibits are already scheduled at Rainbow House (Brussels) and Matadero (Madrid).

We’ll relax the body with fluid, electronic soul and future beats sounds provided by Andreea Veder.

Car access is made on the A1 Gate (entrance to the Senate) and B3 (museum entrance), while the exit is made through the entrance to the museum. Pedestrian access remains unchanged.

Bisexual community meeting @ Manasia Hub | București | Municipiul București | România

Who?
Do you like more than one gender? Do you like people regardless of their gender and sex? We too! We are bisexuals, pansexuals, poly-sexuals and non-monosexual people of all gender orientations! Everyone who identifies under the bi or pan spectrum is welcome to join this meeting and make the community grow! Non bi/pan partners, friends and supporter are welcome to join, but let’s keep in mind that this space is mainly for bi/pan people to gather and discuss, so let them shine first! Biphobes and transphobes are NOT welcome!

What?
Join us for an informal gathering, a community meeting and a drink! We plan to keep the discussion flowing more or less organised around issues connected to bi-pan-sexuality: coming out stories / biphobia / joys and perks of bisexuality / desire for community, etc… Let’s talk about it!

Why?
Because we’re often still too invisible and misunderstood inside and outside of the LGBT+ community. Because making friends and sharing experiences is awesome, because being bi/pan needs community too!

Where?
At Manasia Hub, upstairs terrace! Just enter the bar and head upstairs.

When?
On the day before the Bucharest Pride March 2018! On the 8th of June, form 6 to 9pm.
We will be present from 6pm to welcome you, and we will start the event at 6.20.
Please come in time in order not to interrupt the sharing and discussion mid-through.

We will hold discussions centered on the right to family for same-sex couples in Germany, Ireland and Romania. What are the similarities, and what sets us apart?

If Germany and Ireland currently offer means to recognize same-sex couples, Romania not only lacks any form of legal protection for them, but also refuses to even recognize the documents of couples formed in other countries. In other words, any documentation attesting to the relationship of a same-sex couple is only valid until the couple reaches the Romanian border. Once in Romania, the same-sex couple is not recognized as a family, leading to numerous administrative aberrations, as well as plain injustices.

Speakers: Markus Löw (DE), Adian Coman (RO)
Moderator: Florin Buhuceanu (RO)

Forty years ago, in San Francisco, the rainbow flag, created by artist Gilbert Baker, became the symbol of the PRIDE movement. Under the same flag, thousands of people in San Francisco marched on the city streets advocating for the respect of the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons.

In 2018, in Bucharest, under the same rainbow flag, the Bucharest Pride March will take place on Calea Victoriei.

The supreme official celebration of Bucharest Pride brings together the show, the music and the dance. For the first time in Romania, queer icon Peaches is supporting the Bucharest Pride 2018 with a live performance on Control Club’s stage.

Originally from Canada, Peaches (https://soundcloud.com/peaches-rocks) is a multiform artist who managed to wield immeasurable influence over mainstream pop culture while still operating from outside its confines, carving a bold, sexually progressive path in her own image that opened the door for countless others to follow. Gender identity is a very important theme of Peaches’ music, often playing with traditional notions of gender roles representation. Her lyrics and live shows consciously blur the distinction between male and female.

The night will unfold together with Von Buelove (https://soundcloud.com/vonbuelove) and Chlorys (https://soundcloud.com/chlorys), both initiators of the Corp. dj collective (https://soundcloud.com/corpp) the only Romanian music platform dedicated to the female spectrum.

The time has come to take over CONTROL and celebrate diversity!

Come move your body in each and every color of the rainbow flag!
